Leo Heiman was only 12 years old. Him and his family lived in Warsaw,Poland. When the war began they know it was going to be bad so they left all their belongings and memories and went to the Russian border. They had to bribe a farmer to get them to their grandmothers pitch factory. When the Germans came to the factory the the family ran away deep in the forest. . His farther was shot by german soldiers when he came out of his hiding place. When the war endedLeo and his mother went to Israel to live in Haifa.
Sonia Welis Frenkel was born in Zabludeva,Poland near a city in Bialostok. She had two brothers and one sister. Her parents were killed in Auschwitz. One of her brothers was killed and the other one was in a concentration camp. The sister escaped from the ghettos to Russia.She lived in the Bialostok ghetto and worked in a kindergarten. Rumors of the horrors of the Nazis spread and the night when they liquidated the ghetto was a night she said she would never forget. She died at the age of 67.
